Introduction
This page covers the subjects of privacy and personal safety, and lays down the Privacy Policy for Conference Café. The server providing Conference Café Web services is located in Germany.
All users based in the European Union are protected by the requirements of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation. Users outside the European Union receive the same coverage and treatment.
For your information, all services provided by Conference Café are provided from Germany only.
If you are located in the European Union, no personal information or user data transits via any point outside the European Union unless it is due to your deliberate and consenting interaction with a party outside the European Union.
Information collection
At the moment of user account creation (a potential ‘conference hoster‘), personal data is collected directly by the site operator, who creates all accounts manually and individually after approval of a prior service request.
The only information required for a conference hoster account is a user name and a contactable email address (‘disposable/throw-away‘ and other such temporary email addresses are not accepted).
No other personal data is mandatory for using Conference Café, but the site operator will want to know more about a conference hoster’s intended business or purpose before approving an account registration.
Obviously, you’re free to decline to provide that information, but your account creation request will probably be refused as well. Please be understanding that safety of Conference Café users is an essential consideration for the site operator.
No profiling or tracking data is collected either automatically or manually by the conferencing software on Conference Café.
On the Conference Café service information pages (which you’re reading now), anonymized visitation statistics (no IP address, no intrusive probing) are collected by Conference Café‘s self-hosted and privacy-friendly Plausible tool.
No information is provided to any third party.
Information usage
Any personal data collected by Conference Café Web services or the site operator is used solely for the purpose of providing service, and for communicating with registered conference hosters.
Your privacy is highly valued, and your data will never be used for marketing or promotional purposes, nor shared with any third party (except possibly in the event of a legal obligation such as a court order or requisition).
Cookie usage
Conference Café only employs cookies for technical functionality – notably for enhancing your user experience and remembering your user preferences.
No third-party cookies are used and no data is collected for advertisers or social networks.
You have the option to manage or opt out of cookies via the settings in your Web browser.
However, disabling cookies may affect one minor aspect of the functioning of Conference Café: storing the settings you choose.

You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data directly, by opening the More Actions menu (‘…‘) when in a call and going to Settings > Profile, or by clicking the Settings icon (cog icon) top-right in the Conference Café conference home page and opening the Profile dialog box.
If you’re a conference hoster, you can request the deletion of your account by contacting the site operator, Dave, by email at admin@conference.cafe, or via the contact form, or via the means stated on the Imprint page.
For any data protection inquiries, the site operator, Dave, is the designated GDPR Data Protection Officer and contact and will personally handle and fulfill all requests.
There is no ‘data portability‘ on Conference Café, because you don’t upload or provide any data except – optionally – your name and email address.

Data retention and data persistence

Data security
Various measures are implemented to protect the your security. However, one important measure for conference hosters is to use a securely-crafted password for account login.
Although Conference Café does not hold any certifications regarding data security, the site operator is strongly committed to safeguarding your data. In the unfortunate event of a data breach, affected users (conference hosters) will be notified by email as quickly as possible, and all appropriate and possible remedial action will be taken as early as possible.
