At a time when online privacy is increasingly compromised, Conference Café is designed to protect you and give you secure privacy-centric audio and video calls. The goal is to facilitate meetings that can be accessed quickly and easily by attendees – one-on-one or one-on-many – with the assurance that once they’re over, there’s no personal information left on record.
If you’ve been invited to join a huddle or event, you don’t need an account. Just click on the link you’ve been sent, and give permission to access your microphone and, optionally, your webcam. You can click on the Settings cog icon top-right on Conference Café’s conference home to set up and test your audio and video before entering. You can also use the Jitsi mobile app on Android, Apple and F-Droid.
For event organizers, Dave and partner professionals can organize and provide many additional services: technical support, transcription, interpreting, translation, secretarial, assisted hosting and moderation, media management, event recording, post-event follow-up and reporting, and whatever else you need.
To host meetings and conferences, you’ll need a hoster account. Contact Dave about your project, to request an account.
David Nelson – Dave – is the site operator, a single and identifiable human contact, a professional freelance contractor, and the GDPR Data Protection Officer, who responds to every inquiry.
Enjoy privacy-centric audio and video conferencing
During a call, you can talk to each other, see each other if you want to, show your desktop, view documents and files, share videos, play back audio and music, screen content from YouTube, Vimeo, PeerTube and other platforms, do public and private instant messaging, conduct polls, discuss separately in break-out rooms, do live streaming, and enjoy all the other features available in today’s chat and conferencing services.
But once the event is over, there’s no trace or footprint left behind. It’s easy-to-use, throw-away, fire-and-forget communication.
‘Privacy-centric‘ means that there’s none of the tracking or profiling commonly implemented on other services to monetize your usage by harvesting data about you for social networks, advertisers, marketers or whoever.
Conference Café uses no Javascript, cookies or external links to pass information about your activity to anyone else. Nor is there any artificial intelligence (AI) integration that inherently learns and remembers your personal and behavioral trends, whether you want or not.
In addition, Conference Café does not log users’ IP addresses, and all features work perfectly if you use a VPN, so your location isn’t disclosed.
